As we are all aware, normal life is on hold as coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to affect our everyday routines. As such, we are very aware that many of you will be unable to attend our 2 hour Baby and Child First Aid class in person. That’s why we have pulled out all the stops to create an online version of our award winning 2 hour class which you can complete in the safety of your own home. Over to Mini First Aid founder, director and mum of 6 Kate Ball to explain:
“Calls to 111 are currently subject to delays in answering, and with potentially more families now staying at home, knowing what to do in an emergency is more important than ever.”
Kate continues:
“During this unsettling period, we wanted to offer parents a practical solution so they can learn essential first aid, but in the safety of their own home. Although we would recommend a parent attending a practical course at a later date, it’s quickly become apparent that parents are unfortunately unable to attend our classes at the moment and we wanted to offer them an option so they can feel reassured.”
So how does the online course work?
We have been fully involved with the development of the new course, which we have created in partnership with an E-learning platform who are First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) approved.
The course has been developed so it is interactive, confirms understanding and tests learning, making it truly engaging. Once complete, parents feel confident in applying the knowledge they have just learned. Like our award-winning practical classes, the online course covers CPR, Choking, Bumps, Burns, Breaks, Bleeding, Febrile Seizures, Meningitis and Sepsis Awareness. The course takes two hours in total, but can be paused and returned to, making it perfect if parents are distracted or called away by their little one (s).
How do I book my online course?
- Go to our website. Enter your postcode to find your local region and click the "classes for adults" link on the home page
- Classes cost £20 pp, and are accessed via a code which will be emailed to you
- Parents will then be encouraged to attend a practical class at a later date
- If you are already booked on one of our face to face classes and don’t wish / are unable to attend, please contact your local trainer who can discuss postponements or online options with you.
Use this time to learn a new skill!
Whilst none of us expected the social isolation we may all be experiencing over the coming weeks, here at Mini First Aid we are trying to focus on the positives that can be achieved during this time. Since Mini First Aid started in 2014, over 200,000 parents, grandparents and carers across the UK have been armed with practical, lifesaving skills, thanks to our 2 hour Baby and Child first aid class. We are determined that even during the current coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, when first aid skills will become particularly important, many more people will be able to learn life saving skills via our online course.
Stay safe everyone, Mini First Aid x
