Here at Mini First Aid, we have a team of over 50 fantastic franchisees across the UK who train up to 1000 parents every week in life-saving first aid.

This week we are talking to Zoe who runs Mini First Aid Bristol about why she joined us and what she loves about her job.

Why did you decide to join Mini First Aid?

I used to work as cabin crew for a large airline and, whilst the travel was great when I was younger, once I had Amber (now 7) and Millie (4), I didn’t want to be away all the time.

I already knew first aid from my cabin crew training, and feel that it’s such an important skill that everyone should learn.  The idea of being able to share my first aid knowledge with other parents really appealed to me.

How easy has it been to build a successful franchise?

3 years since I launched, I still really enjoy what I do and am still really busy.  People are always going to have babies, so there are always new parents booking onto classes.  I’m currently running up to 7 classes per week, so am making a good income, but am able to fit my working hours around my family.  I don’t really have to advertise, I get most of my bookings through word of mouth, which is great.  In fact I’m already booked up for the next 2 months!

What do you enjoy about running a Mini First Aid franchise?

I was the first franchisee to join Mini First Aid so have been here since the beginning.  I now help to set up new franchises, providing ongoing and launch support. Even though I’ve been doing classes for over 3 years now, I never get bored, as I love meeting new people and they always ask different questions.  I still get a great sense of satisfaction from teaching each new set of parents these essential skills, and giving them confidence and peace of mind.

If just one parent has to use what they’ve learnt to help their child in an emergency, then my job has been worthwhile.

Have you had any particularly memorable classes?

Earlier this year, I ran a free CPR class for over 100 people. This was something completely different, and a bit outside my comfort zone, but I really enjoyed it and it was great to be able to give something back to the local community.

What is the best thing about working for Mini First Aid?

The brilliant thing about Mini First Aid is the support we all give each other; it feels like being part of a big family and we all help each other out. Some of the franchisees are really good at social media, or creating really nice marketing images, so we all share our ideas and tips on our Facebook group, which is really useful.

It feels so different from working for a big organisation.  It’s a family business with a great ethos and we know that Kate genuinely cares about us all and wants us to be happy.  I would recommend Mini First Aid to anyone.
