Half a million people trained since launch – and still growing

Mini First Aid, the UK’s leading provider of baby and child first aid training, is celebrating a major milestone this month: 10 years of empowering people with the confidence and skills to save lives.

Founded around a Leeds kitchen table in 2015 by mum-of-six Kate Ball, Mini First Aid has grown into a national network of 70 franchises and 150 trainers. The company has now trained nearly half a million people - including 200,000 parents and carers, 200,000 children, and 20,000 workplace staff - in how to respond calmly and confidently in a medical emergency.

“This all started because of my brother Matt,” says founder Kate Ball, who created the business after losing her brother to sudden cardiac arrest at just 22. “I wanted to make sure no family ever feels helpless in an emergency. A decade on, that drive is stronger than ever.”

“Ten years of Mini First Aid – I cannot tell you just how incredible it is that this small business idea that started in founder Kate’s kitchen is what it is today,” says Sara Davies MBE, investor and Mini First Aid champion.

“There are people out there faced with terrifying first aid situations who feel confident to respond because of what Mini First Aid has taught them. That’s pretty amazing. What I love about this organisation is the support within its franchise network, all fired by their incredible mission to save lives. Congratulations on a brilliant 10 years - and here’s to the next!”

Mini First Aid offers fun, practical training across homes, schools, and workplaces, including its popular two-hour Baby & Child First Aid class, which covers choking, CPR, burns, febrile seizures, and more.

To mark the milestone, Mini First Aid recently hosted its annual franchisee conference, bringing together 60+ franchise owners for a weekend of training and celebration. Notable guests and partners included:

The conference was proudly sponsored by Niraj Tewani of Things Happen.

Mini First Aid first gained national attention on BBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2021, where Kate secured investment from Sara Davies MBE, who remains a champion of the brand today.

As the company enters its second decade, its mission remains unchanged: to give every family, school, and business the knowledge and confidence to save a life.
